first cider press

4 Sep

first cider press, originally uploaded by julochka.

we stripped the ancient apple tree in our yard of the 50-odd apples that were on it. they’re super crunchy, sweet and juicy, if on the small side. we ran them through the chopper and then the first run of our cider press. one liter of fresh, sweet apple cider later, we had had a successful test run. now, to get the neighbors to give us all their apples.

as usual, i was wearing my wellies. sabin had on her adidas high tops, tho’ she actually spent most of the day barefoot. i guess this was early in the day.

That is very cool! I have been following the making of the press and its parts on your other blog, seems to me that that husband of yours is a keeper!
