MUUIDO!!!

17 Jun

I spent the weekend of the 6th at Muuido.  It’s a small island west of Incheon.  It’s sort of a trek to get out there – a bus or taxi then 2 buses then a ferry then another bus – up to 4 hours worth of travel – but it’s definitely worth it.

The beach is nice.  The sea is more for wading in when the tide is in and mud flats when the water is out, unless you want to walk a mile to get to the water.  But it’s all good.  🙂  Nothing wrong with a nice evening walk in the mud.

Once the sun is down, there’s generally some crowd of foreigners that come up with enough wood to have a nice fire on the beach, to which all other foreigners tend to gravitate too.

There were a couple of people with guitars, a few girls with some funky Korean colorful twisted marshmallows, and what ever drinks  you bring on your own (beer from the little shop up the hill or from the nearby restaurants is usually the easiest).
Then of course on Sunday we had to go for another walk through the mudflats once the tide had receded a bit.  Found a nice little sheltered (and deserted) beach a bit of the way around the corner.
